Founding Sponsor of BattleBots IQ
Who we are:
Founded in 1943, NTMA is a trade association representing 1700 member companies organized into 50 regional chapters around the US. These small, typically family-owned businesses design and manufacture the precision tooling for automotive, aerospace, defense, agricultural, appliance, electronics, business machines, medical technology, power generation, and many other applications. They also supply precision machining services and special equipment fabrication for a variety of manufacturing/assembly operations.
What we do:
NTMA serves as an important industry advocate in Washington through lobbying activities and organizing expert testimony to Congressional committees. We also provide technical assistance in the areas of tax issues, accounting procedures, legal advice, safety and environmental regulations, and general business management. Our conferences and workshops together with a variety of surveys and reports allow members to access a rich database of industry specific information and planning tools. The combined buying power of our member base results in discount programs for many common products and services.
Education: A Core Value
The dynamics of a global manufacturing marketplace and the accelerating influx of new technology places a high priority on continuous learning within NTMA companies. Skilled technicians are in constant demand and must upgrade their training regularly to remain productive. For more than 60 years, NTMA has been an active supporter of finding and training the best technical people for our industry.
Activities include:
- A charter member of the National Institute for Metalworking Skills
- Publication of high quality instructional materials for machining technology
- Development and distribution of career awareness resources
- Sponsorship of the National Apprentice Competition and Skills USA Championships
- Development of registered apprenticeship guidelines through the US Department of Labor
- Supporting a network of private training centers and community college partnerships
